Catherine Bellwald Fitoterapia e farmacologia: effetti avversi in entrambe And 'the recent news of probable cases of liver disease after taking Herbalife products for famous brand, which has found an immediate clear to certain publications.

Beyond the specific case, this abnormal echo is repeated every time there is the opportunity to denigrate any therapeutic platform whose provenance is the traditional standard, the same is unlikely to clamor raised against it much more frequent, and often serious adverse drug reactions also commonly used.

Do not forget that there is no synthetic drugs without side effects more or less damaging: the effectiveness of a drug like this is always determined by the relationship between benefits and adverse effects.

In this regard, I therefore necessary to clarify certain premises prior to banish from the head of consumers can be cured with herbal medicine methodologies.

There are actually two attitudes are diametrically opposed but equally dangerous, the first is an unconditional trust nell'innocuità nature of the substance on which follows a "do it yourself" with all the possible risks involved. The second is an excessive distrust based precisely on the stale information that tends to highlight the cases of poisoning from natural substances, due to ill-use the same or viral or bacterial contamination.

Any herbal, like any drug substance, should be prescribed by doctors who have specific training in this field. Many substances, even natural, in fact, have an intrinsic toxicity and should be somminitrate doses and in an appropriate manner. In addition, there are many possible interactions with conventional drugs.

Without proper and thorough preparation in the field, including the general practitioner might have difficulty in understanding the effects, dosage and route of administration of each substance, since each substance has specific effects and must be administered in an appropriate way on not only dose but also the type of preparation.

Beyond the traditional herbalists of-the-counter preparations, often harmless because sottodosate, recipes for herbal medicine composed of various substances requiring a prescription, performed by physicians and specialists must then be prepared and checked in drug stores.

An example of this is the episode that occurred some time in Belgium, when it was used a preparation of vegetable in a completely wrong with lethal consequences. In addition to the loss of life, because of the presumption and ignorance, a remedy of great support to the Diet is now banned.

The verification of the purity of substances than a few years ago, are increasingly targeted and precise and I must say in some cases, excessive, or repeated over and over again which leads to the product costs far too high.

The risk that a lot of natural substances out of control steps is always lower but, you know, anything is possible and how it can pollute the water, wine and milk, so it can happen even to substances used in herbal medicine.

Shit happens!

This should not however afford to bury the herbal without consider it a great therapeutic possibility. E 'need to create laws that protect patients, given that in Italy these substances are still considered as food supplements, but they are all the effects of drugs.

The Chinese herbal medicine in particular, is composed of a large number of specific substances which, unfortunately, in most cases, are not available in Europe. These substances of plant, animal or mineral, are able to offer therapeutic strategies in a variety of diseases, from simple trauma, the pain, the cold shock or preventing flu, herbal medicine becomes really valuable in the treatment of visceral diseases and internal as, colitis, gastritis, gallbladder stones and renal diseases and above all in the vacuum such as anemia and menopausal syndromes and syndromes secondary to a variety of debilitating chronic diseases.

So be careful to natural substances, but remember that even if traditional synthetic drugs now used lightly and habit of innocent have nothing, adverse effects are on the agenda.

  4. I state: NO follower of "philosophy" of care, or "traditional", or "alternative".
The chemicals we eat does not effect change if natural or synthetic, as an active ingredient when ingested intentionally or accidentally as a "pollutant."
Who tells me: "Of course, it can not hurt you" (the rhyme well, mo'!!!), good story that Socrates died by drinking the juice of a plant (hemlock), and those who have been dragging for months Annoying ailments suggest you go to the doctor and take "medicines".
I conclude: The stop living compartmentalized and opposed (good-bad, allopathic medicine-homeopathy etc.) And, specifically, and we care enough?! If the osteopath, the acupuncturist, homeopath and anything else we can cure Let us use them! When these therapies are not effective, we can start to take drugs more aggressive leaving, such as antibiotics (anti-bios, anti-life) as a last resort.
Or are we to make of all a "matter of principle? What principle?
